Under the patronage of His Majesty King Abdullah II and with the generosity of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs of the State of U.A.E., and affirming the depth of fraternal and historical relations between the State of U.A.E. and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation is organizing the First International Festival of Jordanian Dates in Amman from 16 to 1 October 8 October 2019, in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan (MOA) and the Jordan Dates Association (JODA). The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA), the International Center for Biosaline Agriculture (ICBA), the International Date Palm Network (DPGN), and the UAE Palm Friends Society (DPFS), within the framework of the memorandum of understanding signed in Abu Dhabi on 10/03/2019 between the two brotherly countries for this purpose.
After a series of festivals specialized in dates, the award began with the award in the Republic of Egypt Arabic (the first festival of Egyptian dates in Siwa in October 2015, the second festival of Egyptian dates in Siwa in November 2016, the third festival of Egyptian dates in Siwa in November 2017, and the fourth festival of Egyptian dates in Siwa in November 2018) and then in the Republic of Sudan organized (the first international festival of Sudanese dates in Khartoum in December 2017 and the second international festival of Sudanese dates in Khartoum in October 2018), and these festivals have achieved tangible successes that contributed to Developing the infrastructure of the date palm sector at the local level, and enhancing the reputation of Arabic dates and introducing them at the regional and international levels, and the festivals of the Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation have become a milestone and a platform for regional and international coordination and cooperation for the development of date palm and its products, and the first international festival of Jordanian dates will be in Amman 16-18 October October 2019 In the Jordanian capital, Oman complement the activities of the award with a focus on the specificity of the Jordan, its excellence and specialization in the production of "Medjol" dates.
