Introduction to the festival

Emphasizing the depth of fraternal and historical relations between the State of U.A.E. and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and with the generosity of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs of the State of U.A.E. and based on the cooperation protocol signed in the capital Abu Dhabi on 14/03/2022, between the Ministry of Agriculture of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan (MOA), the General Secretariat of the Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation, and the Jordanian Dates Association (JODA) for organizing the Fourth International Festival of Jordanian Dates in Amman During the period 18-20 October October 2022, in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the International Center for Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA), the International Center for Biosaline Agriculture (ICBA), the Arabic Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD), the Arab Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas and Dry Lands (ACSAD), the Association of Agricultural Research Centers in the Middle East and North Africa (AARINENA), the International Network for the Development of Date Palm Cultivation and Production in the Middle East and North Africa (IDPGN) and the UAE Friends of the Palm Society (DPFS).


After a series of international festivals specialized in dates, the General Secretariat of the Award began to organize them in the Republic of Egypt Arabic five sessions, the Republic of Sudan three sessions, and the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, these festivals achieved tangible successes that contributed to the development of the palm sector and the production of dates in these countries, and enhanced the reputation of Arabic dates and their definition at the regional and international levels, this series of festivals constituted a milestone and a platform for regional and international coordination and cooperation to develop the date palm sector and its products, and the fourth international festival will be Jordanian dates in the Jordanian capital Oman complement this series with a focus on the specificity of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and its excellence in the production of "Medjool dates".
